Built with purpose, Visual Electric is the image generator designers didn’t know they needed

A camera for your mind

To work with AI or not to work with AI? This question could very well be the hottest one at this point in time. However, it’s safe to say that for those who are dipping their toes in the proverbial water of generative tools, it’s an exciting time to be a designer. Visual Electric, the first image generator built specifically for designers, gets that. Already ahead of the game, Visual Electric has been there, done that, and along the way, also identified what the biggest, most popular image generators are lacking when it comes to dealing with the workflow of designers.

“AI has an interface problem,” CEO & Co-founder Colin Dunn tells us. “Discord and chatbots are the wrong UIs for visual thinkers. As designers, we built the AI design tool we wanted for ourselves – a spatial canvas that lets you spread out and explore your imagination.” Having identified the loopholes in the image generators available today, Dunn and his team knew exactly what to aim for, filling in the gaps where necessary, and adding even more layers to enrich the designer’s experience of using Visual Electric. The tool, as Dunn says, is “purpose-built for the designer’s workflow. Our model has best-in-class prompt adherence for the greatest level of creative control. It produces exceptionally photorealistic images that can be used in production.”

At every step, the Visual Electric team works on deconstructing or entirely removing points of friction within the creative process. Case in point – a library of over 50 hand-made styles, such as ‘Realistic Renders’ or ‘Linocut,’ that takes the pain out of prompt writing. “When prompting, you can choose from one of our styles or make your own,” explains Dunn. “The library makes it easy to generate beautiful images without being a prompt engineer.” Other pointed features further refine the process. Take, for example, the infinite canvas that “will feel familiar to anyone who has worked with modern design tools,” or the ‘Remix’ functionality. “Every image generated in Visual Electric can be the starting point for something new. You can browse our inspiration gallery and find something you like; then add it to a canvas and remix it by editing the prompt and the settings that were used to create your reference image,” Dunn adds.
