Interview: STUDIO WAN

Small and powerful: STUDIO WAN flexes and grows on need, but always delivers work that packs a punch

STUDIO WAN flexes and grows on need, but always delivers work that packs a punch

For Tim Wan, Founder of London-based creative practice STUDIO WAN, keeping things intentionally small is both a strategic choice and a creative philosophy. Operating as a micro-agency, the studio scales fluidly – expanding and contracting based on the needs of each project – while maintaining a focused, hands-on approach. This nimbleness allows Wan to stay close to the work, balancing the big-picture thinking with craft-led execution across disciplines and sectors.

The studio’s output reflects this adaptability – thoughtful, narrative-driven identities that are as visually refined as they are conceptually grounded. Whether working with emerging fashion brands, cultural institutions, or future-facing biotech companies, Wan brings a collaborative mindset to each project, prioritising research, materiality, and meaningful storytelling over a fixed visual signature. It’s a practice that thrives in the in-between, shaped as much by intuition as it is by intention, and defined by a belief that small teams can still make a big impact, especially when guided by clarity, curiosity, and care. In this interview, Wan rolls back time to trace the path that led him to start his studio, and tells us why, ultimately, everything comes down to working with the right people.

“I make a conscious effort to work with the right people from the start.”
