Need for speed

There’s nothing quite like the energised, organised chaos of working in hospitality. And in order for restaurants and bars to thrive – guaranteeing customer satisfaction, productivity, and short wait times – everything must function as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Based in Norway, Munu is a Norwegian technology company dedicated to crafting software solutions for these businesses, empowering their users and letting them focus on what’s important – the guest.

Power to the pickle

“Our studio’s favourite snack needed a facelift, so we built something provocative. Something youthful and useful,” explains Study Hall Founder & Creative Director Matt Yerman. The creative collective, unified by their shared love of pickles, embarked on a project to create a fictional identity and website for their studio-devised brand – Thick Pickle. “Since this was a fictitious project, we let ourselves run wild,” Yerman adds.

Lego for adults

Quagga’s minimalist platform beds promise to change your relationship with your furniture. Putting together one of their beds feels like a bit of a revolution – stripping away the anxiety-riddled panic of furniture assembly, and replacing it with a process that feels more like playing with Lego for adults. Tasked with highlighting the sense of playfulness that’s inherent to the brand, Torontonian branding studio newkid designed a bold and spirited identity for Quagga, leading with a typographical approach chockablock with character.

The Universal Icon Set

Icons are a staple in just about every identity system, but how many design studios do you know that are so good at creating icons that they have their very own icon design department? We know one, and its name is Forma. Run by Joel Lazano, Dani Navarro and Josep Duran, the Barcelona-based team has designed iconography, illustration, pictogram and wayfinding systems for a phenomenal list of brands, including Nike, Visa, Nespresso, Coca-Cola, British Airways, Penguin and Behance, to name just a few.

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Duran for an interview in August 2023 to learn more about Forma’s unique specialisation in this area, going into detail about their projects and process.

This conversation led to another – “have you ever considered creating an icon set that other designers, studios and agencies could licence for their own projects?” After a few more emails back and forth, it was quickly decided this was a great idea.

After a few more months and lots of work, we are delighted to finally launch The Universal Icon Set exclusively at The Brand Identity Store. Forma has crafted a unified collection of assets fit for any project, consisting of 250 icons in solid and line styles (500 total). Each SVG file is fit and ready to go out of the box, or easily adaptable to suit any brand, client or system.

Viva La Vector

We’ve teamed up with Spanish digital assets boutique atipo to bring its Vector Mockups pack to The Brand Identity Store, consisting of 155 fully editable illustrations in outlined and solid styles. From vehicles and shops to packaging and digital devices, the incredibly detailed collection can be easily modified to suit any brand, client or project, and is delivered in FIG, AI, SVG and PDF file formats.

“Being freelance has given me two things: independence and confidence.”
