Case studies

Bold type and a neon palette

On an upward trajectory, the critically acclaimed and sought-after SWAMP – a brand experience agency blending theatre, technology, and gaming – underwent a makeover by London-based creative agency Fluoro. “SWAMP has revolutionised their offer through technological innovation,” Design Director Eddie Caldwell explains, “so through some unexpected design twists and a futuristic colour palette, we aimed to reflect the company as both disrupters and pioneers in the industry.”

Turning the pill into a lifeboat

A campaign built to fight the opioid crisis in the US, 855-HOW-TO-QUIT-(OPIOIDS) takes a sensitive, yet clever approach by turning the pill, the object of addiction, into a way out. For decades, communities across the country have been battling this man-made epidemic, an enduring and urgent issue that Serviceplan’s Innovation team wanted to address. Through this self-initiated project, they launched a helpline that allows people to reach out for support in the most critical time – when they have a pill in their hand. “The Serviceplan Innovation team is focused on developing creative projects that align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the number one topic in this list is health,” Copywriter Javier Granados tells us. “Since two of the team members are from the US, the opioid crisis was a topic close to their hearts.”

Austrian designer and photographer Lukas Diemling joins the TBI Store

Many of you may know Lukas Diemling for his brand identity, packaging and print projects for clients – many of which have been featured on this very site over the past few years. What you might not know is that the Graz-based designer is also a prolific photographer – a skill that led him into the creation of mockups. Just like his design work, his mockups strike a balance somewhere between playful and neutral – a combination that we’re very much a fan of. As a result, we’re pleased to introduce 12 of his very best scenes to our store.

How to Think More Effectively

We know that our minds are capable of great things because, every now and then, they come out with a fantastic idea or two. However, our minds are also unpredictable; spending large stretches of time distracting us. This is a book about how to optimise these beautiful yet fitful parts of us so that they can more regularly and generously produce the sort of insights and ideas we need to fulfil our potential.

Among other things, The School of Life discuss how to grasp fragile and flighty thoughts before they disappear through anxiety and fear; at what times of day to try to work and for how long; how to make use of boredom, and how to overcome timid and predictable approaches to the largest problems. The result is an operating manual to that most wondrous, though intermittent and always baffling, organ: the human mind.

What’s happening at TBI?

  • POV Budapest has officially been announced! It’s a new design conference taking place in September, and we’re the official media partner. This means our whole team will be there. It would be great to meet some of you there if you decide to attend.

  • Our next book, The Process Five, should be up for pre-order on Wednesday. It’s the chunkiest one yet 👌
