To be at home in Paris

Both homely and eccentric, the visual identity for the Parisian stay Hôtel Buci from Bordeaux-based design studio Abmo is a welcoming, vibrant assortment of type, texture and tones, interweaving material choices and traditional subversions to create a brand that is undeniably inviting and irrefutably French. Working alongside the interior designer Paul Salas, the space and the identity mirror one another, from the interplay of light and shadow to the significance of tactility – never wasting an opportunity for subtle sensuality, as heroed by the flourishing wordmark.

Man meets machine

Security solutions brand AIRSKIN welcomes a reimagined relationship between man and machine, whereby robotic production processes are made safer and more efficient through soft-padded pressure sensors applied to dangerous, heavy-duty machinery. Courtesy of Austria and Germany-based creative agency moodley, AIRSKIN’s identity similarly marries an organic and technical tone, realised across a brand that embraces AIRSKIN’s binary nature – resulting in something both versatile and warm, technical and comfortable.

For Good Measure

Meet Sean Danz and Kevin Chao, the founding pair of independent Brooklyn-based design studio For Good Measure. Long-term pals, the duo have grown side by side – from high school to business owners – with their robust foundational connection equipping them to navigate any tempest. Renowned for their intentionally less-than-polished approach, For Good Measure’s creative ventures are steeped in sincerity, humanity, and wit, mirroring the personalities and passions of their clients. As such, they’ve made significant contributions to their local NYC communities through projects, which they discuss here, such as launching a merch line to uplift Chinatown businesses, contributing to the legendary NYC Asian goods store Pearl River Mart Foods, and branding a film production studio committed to amplifying the voices of underrepresented demographics.

Introducing Product Renders

We’ve long admired the beautiful creations and relentless work ethic of Ross Mason. Educated as a graphic designer and once employed for his motion skills, he’s now a renowned 3D artist creating surreal scenes for the likes of Glossier and Logitech. On top of that, he gives back to the very community he learnt from, creating in-depth Patreon tutorials about his craft as well as a series of ready-to-use product renders. Knowing that we undoubtedly have some Cinema 4D aficionados gracing this site, we reached out to him so that we could bring these renders to our store; starting with the three you can get your cursors on below.

TYPEONE Issue Seven

The seventh issue of TYPEONE considers code through two primary lenses. Function, first and foremost, and the artistic possibilities that it creates. Within these two areas, it explores the exciting forms of creative expression possible with code. From exploring how design studios are using it as a tool, fused with the art of creative coding in building interactive, unconventional websites with Korean-born designer Yehwan Song, and algorithmic, data-driven brand identities with ex-Pentagram designer Talia Cotton, and much more.
