Flushing convention
Toilet Twinning, a Tearfund initiative, tackles the global sanitation crisis by connecting donors’ toilets with those in countries supported by their WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programmes. To help amplify this serious cause, they sought the creative direction of London agency Wildish & Co. who crafted a bold, playful visual identity that maintains the gravity of the cause while making it more approachable and engaging for donors.
Anything but shy
Founded by renowned wig expert Endah Tche, E.T WIGS is a Black-owned luxury wig brand rooted in the belief that change is power. Through its selection of hair services, the brand pushes beyond conventional beauty standards to redefine personal style, offering wigs that break free from the ordinary and create transformative experiences for clients.
From flock to fashion
“Around 1 in 12 sheep are gay,” says global agency network Serviceplan, “but since gay rams can’t be used for breeding, it doesn't end well for them.” Together with Michael Stücke, an openly gay farmer from Germany, they transformed this insight into Rainbow Wool – a purpose-driven initiative that makes wool from gay rams into fashionable statements for LGBTQ+ rights, not only helping gay sheep, but also gay humans!
Soft and surreal
Operating in Australia’s influencer marketing space, One Daydream (ODd) boasts a reputation built on authenticity and genuine opportunities – a refreshing approach in an industry sometimes criticised for surface-level superficiality. When it came to crafting their visual identity, Sydney-based brand experience studio Bandit Design Group took this distinctive positioning and ran with it, to realms beyond our imagination. “We used the brand name, ‘One Daydream,’ as creative permission to dream bigger and bolder,” explains Alanna V Walsh, Associate Creative Director & Senior Designer, resulting in a mesmerising celebration of contrasts.
Bird’s-eye view
As Italy’s primary provider of debit and credit card payment infrastructure and ATM networks since 1983, BANCOMAT S.p.A. continues to play a crucial role in the country’s transition toward digital payments. Tasked with the mission of modernising this iconic Italian financial institution – mirroring their move toward a unified digital ecosystem, incorporating modern payment solutions like NFC, QR codes, and digital wallets – Landor has reimagined BANCOMAT for the digital age while preserving its trusted heritage.
Typeface
A sweet spot between function and flair
When Hot Type was brought on to design a custom typeface for Koto’s rebrand of Kit – a marketing platform aimed towards the creator economy – the identity and branding were already in place. What it was missing was a contextual, custom typeface that would let the brand speak in an ownable, confident voice. Koto and Kit knew what they were looking for. “From the get-go, we knew it needed to be bold, condensed, with slightly rounded corners and preferably based on a Gothic skeleton. I love working with such precise parameters, and you’d be surprised at how much wiggle room is still open,” says Marko Hrastovec, Founder & Type Designer at Hot Type who took on the challenge of crafting the typeface, dubbed Kit Sans.

Fuerte Type
For Type Designer Fermín Guerrero, challenging the conventions of type design is where the fun’s at. His type design studio, Fuerte, is an experimental playground, where, quite often, he throws out the rule book to embrace a creative approach that follows his intuition. “I don’t aim to have all the answers before I start working on a typeface; instead, I allow myself to explore different directions and see how far a project can go,” he tells us. The result is a studio with a five-member strong family of typefaces, each different from the other.
Whether it’s starting to craft a typeface from the ‘wrong’ end of the process, or deliberately challenging sacred rules of the discipline, Guerrero likes to go his own way. And he does so quite successfully – his typefaces have been published by prestigious foundries and have been racking up international awards quite swiftly. Here, we catch up with Guerrero to get a closer look into the workings of his one-man shop, and also get to meet his freshest release, Impura.

“I try to stay away from chasing trends or replicating what works for others.”
